ArtLab is a hands-on afterschool program for children in elementary school where they can learn to interpret the world through art and science, developing their self-expression, self-exploration, and imagination.
ArtLab’s classes are weekly and last one hour. Classes offerings include:
Art for K-2, in which children make an art project related to a science topic such as weather, animals, plants and fungi, space exploration, ecology, and robots.
Digital animation, in which children aged from 3 to 6 years old use the FlipaClip app to learn about animation, storyboarding, and character design.
Art Stations, where children can explore 5 different art stations during an hour.
Mini Courses: Spy Arts and Crafts for grades 1 to 5, where children create their own spy gadgets and learn how to write secret messages; Exploring Plant Dyes and Embroidery for grades 3 to 5, where kids will learn how to make a basic embroidered piece, discovering the science behind dyeing fabric with plant dyes; Star Wars Art for grades 1 to 6, where children learn to draw Star Wars’ characters; and Creative Electronics for grades 3 to 5, where kids discover how to create art projects such as a spin art robot, mine craft torch, and glowing mushrooms by using simple electronics, conductive tape, and paper.
